Golfers in the making.....

Tomorrow is the annual CFS golf tournament. I am playing with Mike Hudgens, Woody Johnson, and not sure who the fourth player is. Sherri had to go to the mall to do something(I didnt ask what) so I decided to get in some practice at the golf range. The only catch was I had the two boys. I had taken Paul to the range earlier in the week just by himself and I bought him his first set of junior clubs to break in. But tonight it was also with James so I didnt know if I would even get to hit a ball. It was Paul's second outing and James' first.

Luckily there were not too many people at the range so we spread out and began to attack. I say attack because Paul is already a student of the rapid fire method. He thinks the goal is to fire off as many shots in the shortest amount of time possible. I bought a bucket with about 120 balls. I set it down to get a tee out of my bag, turned around, and they were half gone. Ok, I know I am exaggerating, but really, it is something to watch. On the opposite extreme is James. Slow, methodical, calculating. For a three year old he has above average focus. Paul is definitely going to be the athlete, but James may end up being a better golfer.

The highlight of the night was on the putting green. I dropped two balls about 50 feet from the cup and told them to see who could put their ball in the hole in the fewest shots. James, with a putter as long as him, took a gangly swing and swatted it. It rolled toward the hole arched about six feet to the right and dropped straight into the hole. I couldnt believe it. in fact, there were two adults walking down the path watching the whole thing and their jaws dropped. I was more excited than James as he didnt know what he did. I picked the ball out of the cup and made some comment to the two adults in time to hear my son Paul hit his ball from the same spot. It had good speed, same line, arched six feet to the right, did a 180 around the cup and stayed on the lip of the cup. I could have hit 100 balls from the same spot and not duplicated what they just did. I am thinking maybe I should add one of them to be my fourth player tomorrow.

Welcome to the world of blogging. You certainly have more nerve than I to take both boys to the range. Looks to me like you have two Tigers in the wings. Looking forward to the pictures of Pannama. By the way your fourth is Tim Dowdy. He is very quiet but you will enjoy his company.

One of the hottest day of golf I think I've played, if not the hottest. Riding 13 miles at Creve Coeur lake right after wasn't the brightest I've done. It took me two laps, but then I noticed the place was pretty deserted, duh.... Not too bad on Saturday, but Sunday was tough. Think I had a 'spot' of dehydration and a huge headache. Brad's sermon didn't help. Texas will be nice and warm.
